OBST/ACLE RESIDENCY

Objective:

Obst/acle residency provides a physical space in which cultural producers can experiment freely. We are looking for applicants keen on the experimental and the genre defying. We are especially interested in the following mediums: writing and poetry, sound and music, websites and apps, performance, robotics and AI. We are especially interested in the following contexts: reading groups, political activism, general scientific research especially the natural and computer sciences, research initiatives in general, book or publication publishing, talks and roundtables, and digital distribution. Each project will receive it’s own subdomain on our servers and is expected to utilize this in some way, even if just for documentation.

Our schedule is coordinated between all accepted projects, so please include desired range of dates in your proposal.

We cannot directly provide or cover costs for travel, housing, or project materials. However, we will assist in finding any and all resources your project might need including local grants. We do not handle the documentation for your project but we can provide you with a Canon EOS Rebel and Photoshop. We normally work together to set up online presentation at the close of your project unless it is a web based project from the beginning. We have all the tools normally found in a gallery, and various audio and electrical equipment.

A map of the space and adjacent “exhibition” possibilities can be found here
